Client Testimonials

from Sarah B. in KCMO:

“I am a new client and just started my 3rd month with Kate. What a great decision I made! I am very happy with her professionalism, her vast amount of knowledge, her amiable personality and her ability to motivate me with encouragement and laughter. It is a pleasure to work with this dynamic athlete & former dancer who genuinely cares about her clients and wants them to succeed. For me, one reason I sought help is because of frustration in dealing with terrible knee problems due to years of soccer. My knees are officially better (more mobility, less pain, more flexibility) and continue to improve! Kate is also adept at adapting workouts to each unique personality; she figured out that to keep me interested – she changes my workouts at every meeting and I appreciate the variety. We even work out in the park sometimes – yay! I am also trying to slim down & tone up- of course this is a common theme but it does feel that Kate is not just applying some generic program for me. I am a former athlete that is still very active but needed some guidance to stay on track and maximize efforts. It is great to be able to combine my previous knowledge base with all the “lastest & greatest” exercises that Kate knows about – exciting to learn new things & know that I can enter a new phase of fitness in my life. Kate is relentless in her search for solutions, consistent with her positive attitude and is always kind & respectful. Grade A+ !!”

I first wrote Katie in desperation. My title to my email to her was literally, “HELP!”  I knew I needed help and knew who I could turn to! I was in an absolute panic because after realizing that I would be going to Florida for a wedding reception, I knew I had to try to look better for a swimsuit. It would have been so embarassing to go as I was! I was a size 6-8 when I knew I should be a size 4-6! I was drinking cofee and alcohol at all hours of the day and basically dehydrating my body! I didn’t even realize the harm I was doing; I didn’t know there was anything wrong with this before. It was just the way I was. I wanted it, so that’s what I had. I was using abusive methods to try to shed weight like taking laxatives, diet pills, etc. I was really spinning out of control out of absolute frustration. It was so hard at first to drink 2L+ water a day. But my body thanked me and I eventually became thirsty all the time! I didn’t have enough time in the day to drink all the water that my body craved. Looking back, I think I cleansed myself. Within the first week, I lost sooo much water weight that my body was hording!!!
On Katie’s plan, I learned to love food for its nutritional value, not its so-called comfort value. Actually, I learned how to take time for myself, like with preparing meals. Never before have I cooked for myself. With real purpose, I learned to prepare my meals and take care of my body.
I’ve always loved running but because of injuries, gaining weight, and then needing to carry the extra weight, it was frustrating at the least. Now, I love lifting weights way more than running and I usually don’t go one day without doing ab exercises for at least 10 minutes. I love the feeling of having a strong core and I don’t miss having my belly hang over my pants!!!

For the wedding reception, I chose my dress and ordered THREE sizes to try on, not knowing what I would fit best into. I fit into the smallest one (size 6), but needed to have about one more inch gone in order to comfortably sit down in the dress– I had two weeks left of my seven week plan. I had goals everyday with workouts and I had goals every moment with food and water. It took a lot of strength to stick to the plan but now I am stronger than ever. My favorite part about the new me is that I lost weight in my face and got my hair cut very short again. This was totally unexpected! I thought my face “just didn’t look good anymore with short cuts”…but after losing weight, I realized that my ever-changing face had nothing to do with age, but with weight! … I eat and walk with confidence and purpose!  As you can see in my pictures, I am happy and DO fit into that dress!
